About
The Alberto Widmer Industrial High School was founded on June 30, 1980, under the name Industrial School, through Decree No. 7760. Its creation was driven by educators Eduardo Fuentes García, Luis Gómez Galarce, and David Villar Malverde (R.I.P.), who were convinced of the need to train highly qualified technicians for the country’s productive sector.
In its early years, the school offered the specialties of Internal Combustion and Automotive Mechanics and Electromechanics, enrolling more than 1,000 students distributed across 21 classes.
Over the years, the institution has continued to grow and adapt to the needs of the labor market. In 1990, the Aircraft Maintenance Mechanics specialty was added, responding to the demand for specialized technical personnel in Chile’s aeronautical industry.
Later, within the framework of the Educational Reform, the school adopted the Full School Day (Jornada Escolar Completa, JEC) system through Resolution No. 411, issued on October 16, 2003, with the goal of strengthening the comprehensive education of its students.
Currently, Liceo Industrial Alberto Widmer, located at Camino a Rinconada No. 816, in the Maipú district, offers technical-professional secondary education in the specialties of Electricity, Automotive Mechanics, and Aircraft Maintenance Mechanics.
More than 70% of its students come from Maipú, while the rest come from neighboring districts such as Estación Central, Lo Prado, Pudahuel, and Padre Hurtado.
The school stands out for its commitment to quality technical education, values-based formation, and educational inclusion, actively contributing to the social and productive development of the region.
