Electricity

The Electricity program trains students to join Chile’s dynamic and highly regulated electrical sector, which has grown steadily over the past decades due to increased energy consumption in households, industries, and services. Currently, Chile has nearly total electrical coverage and faces new challenges related to the growth of energy demand, generation, and transmission.

The national electrical sector comprises three main areas:
+ Generation (mainly thermal and hydroelectric)
+ Transmission.
+ Distribution of electricity to consumption points.

This specialty is directly related to electrical distribution and installation activities, as well as to the construction industry, which continuously demands qualified professionals.

The specialty trains mid-level technicians capable of:

🔹 Carrying out residential and commercial low-voltage (up to 10 kW) electrical installations, obtaining the Class D license granted by the Superintendency of Electricity and Fuels (SEC).
🔹 Performing basic electrical maintenance in various productive sectors.
🔹 Participating in electrical and automation projects, incorporating home, building, and industrial automation technologies.

In addition, the program promotes continuing higher education for more advanced technical specialization.

Upon graduation, students can work as:

🔹 Electrical installers in homes, offices, and small businesses.
🔹 Electrical maintenance assistants in industries and organizations operating with low voltage.
🔹 Technicians in service, construction, and various industrial companies.

They may also take part in the development of electrical projects (plans, diagrams, and budgets) and in the preparation of technical reports.

During their training, students develop skills to:

🔹 Install, repair, and maintain basic electrical systems
🔹 Execute electrical and automated control projects
🔹 Participate in programming and maintenance of electrical equipment
🔹 Comply with current technical and safety regulations

The program includes internships and company-based activities during the two years of training, promoting learning in real work environments.

In some cases, companies may require health certificates compatible with the position.
